BronxBanda Final Performance
South Bronx Cultural Trail Festival presented by Casita Maria Center for the Arts and Education.
Casita Maria Center for Arts & Education and Arturo O’Farrill are partnering to present six free performances by the new ensemble BronX BandA. The goal of the project is to break down barriers between performers and audiences and build demand for jazz by bringing it to the streets and local businesses of the Hunts Point/ Longwood neighborhoods in the South Bronx, performing in non-traditional locations in order to weave the music into the daily lives of the community’s youth and families. The improvisational ensemble will integrate local musicians and collaborative artists, melding traditional jazz with new compositions that incorporate the sounds and stories of the community.

Leonor Falcón and Juanma Trujillo in Art is Live
Developed by Marta Sanchez and Caroline Davis, Art is Live is a platform to show the work of a collective during the quarantine. The first performance premiered on April 17th, 2020 and will continue until venues return to regular programming.
Art is Live features the work of different artists 6 times a week. The performances will be varied and showcase what artists are working on, including concerts, improvisations, multimedia projects, and beyond.
All the artists involved have lost their work scheduled for the upcoming months, which means they have not only lost money, but also the opportunity to express themselves and communicate with audiences.
If you are in a position where you can contribute, please consider donating to help these artists during this difficult time. Each month, the money will be divided evenly among the artists sharing their creations with you.

Pianist & composer Pablo Vergara presents
“Songs From The Tower”.
Pablo Vergara, Piano.
Featuring John Ellis (saxophones),
Dan Loomis (bass), Ronen Itzik (drums)
With special guests: Leonor Falcón (violin), Ludovica Burtone (violin), Ina Paris (viola) and Brian Sanders (cello).
Pianist Pablo Vergara’s latest project, “Songs from The Tower”, features recreations of works by post-romantic Chilean composers from the early XXth century. It is a musical tribute to the centennial of the legendary ¨Grupo Los Diez¨ (Group of The Ten), a fellowship of Chilean artists, poets and musicians influenced by Tostoy´’s quest for the spiritual in the arts.
From art song to Scriabin-like vignettes, tone poems and impressionistic landscapes, Vergara's arrangements make the music sound contemporary, while blurring the boundaries between genres in chamber music.
